Position the blackberries along the edges of the cake and also place a few on top of the cake.
Not bad for my first cake. I am sure in time each cake I bake will improve. But for now I am pretty happy with the results. I could have added more icing in the middle but my husband doesn’t like to much of it.
Tips of making the nature themed cake
- You will need two cake layers. I used two round pans. When pouring the batter into the pans make sure they are evenly poured into each pan.
- When baking the cakes make sure you don’t open the oven, view everything through the glass. I made the mistake of opening and the cakes collapsed. I had to redo the cakes.
- For chocolate leaves you can use leaf mold as alternative to painting the lemon leaves with chocolate.
