I got inspired when I picked up the latest catalog of Serena & Lily. On the last page was this gorgeous blond pine cone wreath with a big blue bow. I had to make that for my new home.
WHERE TO PUT YOUR BLEACHED PINECONE WREATH
There are so many places to hang this bleached pinecone wreath. Traditionally front doors are where we mostly hang wreaths. You can hang it in other areas in your home.
- Over you stove fan: If you have large fan like mine its the perfect place.
- You can add holiday cheer to your mantel
- Over an entry door
- Front porches
- On exterior light fixtures
- On your mailbox
Why Bleach The Pinecones
Pinecones are beautiful in its natural state. If you want to brighten them up to the point where they have a patina look, then follow these steps below. I will show you how to lighten them without adding to much bleach. Once you see the end results here, I am sure you will want to make one. Besides this wreath you can use the bleach pinecones for so many things. You can put them in a decorative jars, centerpieces, create all kinds of crafts.
Supplies For Bleached Pinecone Wreath
- Grapevine wreath form.
- Pinecones: Use small to medium size pinecones
- Bleach: Add 3 cups to bucket and 1 gallon of water. Too much bleach can make the pinecone fall apart.
- Bucket
- Brick or something heavy to place on pinecones to keep them from floating.
How To Make the Wreath
- Measure 3 cups of bleach with 1 gallon of water. Add all the pinecones into the solution.
- Lay a few bricks over them so they don’t float to the top.
- After 24 hours take the pinecones out and rinse them. Let dry for a few hours outside in the sun.
- To open them up, place them on a cookie sheet in oven at 250 degrees until they open up.
How To Make The BLeached Pine cone Wreath
- Cut some of the pinecones in half using a small hand pruner.
2. Glue them to a wreath.
3. Let dry for a few hours
4. Add a big colorful bow.
