Why Bleach The Pinecones

Pinecones are beautiful in its natural state. If you want to brighten them up to the point where they have a patina look, then follow these steps below. I will show you how to lighten them without adding to much bleach. Once you see the end results here, I am sure you will want to make one. Besides this wreath you can use the bleach pinecones for so many things. You can put them in a decorative jars, centerpieces, create all kinds of crafts.

Supplies For Bleached Pinecone Wreath

• Grapevine wreath form.

• Pinecones: Use small to medium size pinecones

• Bleach: Add 3 cups to bucket and 1 gallon of water. Too much bleach can make the pinecone fall apart.

• Wide ribbon to make a bow.

• Bucket

• Brick or something heavy to place on pinecones to keep them from floating.

How To Make the Wreath

1. Measure 3 cups of bleach with 1 gallon of water. Add all the pinecones into the solution.
2. Lay a few bricks over them so they don’t float to the top.
3. After 24 hours take the pinecones out and rinse them. Let dry for a few hours outside in the sun.
4. To open them up, place them on a cookie sheet in oven at 250 degrees until they open up.

How To Make The BLeached Pine cone Wreath

1. Cut some of the pinecones in half using a small hand pruner.

2. Glue them to a wreath.

3. Let dry for a few hours

4. Add a big colorful bow.
