How to Create a Blue and White Chinoiserie Holiday Tree

How To Create a Blue and White Chinoiserie Holiday Tree

I have been doing quite a bit of Chinoiserie crafts. I decided to create a smaller tree for the upstairs porch filled with my handpainted chinoiserie ornaments. There is a story behind these ornaments and this project does not come easy. I started painting 10 ornaments. That was the easy part. When the instruction said to put them in the oven for 30 minutes thats when everything went wrong. The ornaments turned brown. The lesson to be learned, no oven for these handpainted ornaments. I was only able to create 20 and that’s when I decided it would be for a smaller tree instead of a larger one.
This year I will be having Christmas in my new home for the first time. I am excited that most of the family will be here celebrating this special occasion with us. Upstairs there are two balconies and will be placing this blue and white holiday tree there for everyone to get inspired. So let me show you what you can do with a smaller tree even if you don’t have blue and white chinoiserie ornaments.

The tutorial for the blue and white chinoiserie ornaments will be at the end of the post.

Supplies For The Chinoiserie Tree

Small artificial tree

Blue wired ribbon

Scissors

Blue and white ornaments

Step 1:

Cut 12 inches of blue wired ribbon and place it like a wave everywhere on the tree. Because this is a small tree you won’t need as much ribbon. I calculated that 25 pieces would do the job.

Step 2:

I hung all the ornaments with a silver ornament hook. Carefully press the hook of each ornament around the Christmas tree branches. You want to avoid them crashing to the floors.

You poor thing! I know your heart sank when you put so much work into your first set of chinoiserie ornaments and then they turned brown. Thank goodness you had more balls to use to make a fresh supply. Your tabletop tree is beautiful decorated with your ornaments and blue ribbon. I’ve always loved a tabletop sized tree.

Wow, you did a great job painting all of those. Sorry you lost some in the “baking” process. Hurts the heart when things like that happen. Tree is precious, though!

Your tree is lovely and I’m sure your family will love that it’s on the upstairs porch for them to enjoy. That’s a shame that the ornaments turned brown, but you definitely found a beautiful way to alter your plans.
