I have been enjoying a smoothie every day as a way to keep my weight down and overall keep my body healthy inside and out. The ingredients in this banana smoothie are loaded with vitamins.

Being a women over 50 the important factor is that the ingredients are low in sugar and high in protein which gives me that extra energy I need on a daily basis.

What Are SuperFoods

Superfoods have a very high nutritional value. This means that they provide a substantial amount of nutrients and very few calories. For example blueberries are super food which are also great in smoothies.

Super foods have a high volume of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Antioxidants are natural molecules that occur in certain foods. They help neutralize free radicals in our bodies.

For example it can reduce heart diseases, cancer, arthritis, strokes, Parkinson disease and possible other diseases. Remember super food are not cure all foods just cuts your chances of getting these diseases.

Types of SuperFoods

Berries: They have high levels of flavonoids which have have been shown to to lower heart attack. For example cherries, cranberries, raspberries and goji berries.

Plant protein powder: Have a high concentration of isoflavones, a type of phytochemical. Phytochemicals are compounds that occur naturally in plants.

I suffer from high cholesterol and isoflavones can reduce cholesterol. Thats why one of the superfood in my banana smoothie is plant protein powder. It can also help in reducing memory loss and bone loss which another reason why I add it in my smoothie.

Tea: Especially green and white tea have amazing antioxidant and anti cancer properties. It also is a great stress reducer.

Leafy greens: Vegetables such as kale, spinach and Swiss chard are amazing super foods rich in vitamins A, C, E, and K, and many B vitamins.

Organic super greens has all the benefits of leafy greens and super food fruits all in this powder which is another super food I add.

Collagen: It’s a protein in the human body making almost 30 % of all the protein in the body.

It is found in our skin, ligaments, tendon cartilage and bone. Its a fiber like structure that helps make our connective tissue, but as we age our natural collagen production begins to decline. Many experts believe that collagen product such as Multi Collagen Protein help replenish the body of the collagen it looses. This is why I love adding it into my smoothies.

  • Bananas: Contain fiber and many beneficial nutrients, including potassium, vitamin B6 and Vitamin C. All great for the skin.

  • Water: Hydration helps in keeping your skin looking its best. Drinking water is beneficial to flushing your system of toxins. By adding water in my smoothies creates more hydration for the skin.

Lets Make The Smoothie

This is for a 16 ounce smoothie.

  1. Add 8 ounces of drinking water into the blender.
  2. 1/2 cup of ice.
  3. 2 ripe bananas.
  4. 1 scoop of collagen powder.
  5. 1 scoop of organic green powder. (This will give the color green to your Smoothie.
  6. 1 scoop of plant protein powder.

Blend all the ingredients in the blender. (Option) for added sweetness you can add 1/2 cup of orange juice or pineapple juice.

Tips On Making The Superfood Banana Smoothie

When I create a recipe I always find tips that I like to pass along.

  • I used ripe bananas
  • I like to use the Unflavored Multi Collagen Protein powder simply because I didn’t want anything to interfere with the fruit flavors of the banana and berries.
  • I add a cup of ice to make it thicker..

  • Raspberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, manganese, and fiber. They are also full antioxidant properties as well.
  • Water: Hydration helps in keeping your skin looking its best. Drinking water is beneficial to flushing your system of toxins. By adding water in my smoothies creates more hydration for the skin.

Instructions

    1. Add 8 ounces of drinking water into the blender
    2. 1/2 cup of ice
    3. 2 ripe bananas
    4. 1 scoop of collagen powder
    5. 1 scoop of organic green powder
    6. 1 scoop of plant protein powder.
    7. (optional) For added sweetness you can add 1/2 cup of irgange juyice or pineapple juice.
    8. Blend everything in the blender, serve in a 16 ounce glass, yeti or themos.
