Halloween Rock Painting Ideas

Lately I have been painting rocks with the grand kids. It’s a great craft to do with them and I must say I am loving it. Its very relaxing and fun., Since Halloween is around the corner and the kids were over last weekend we got out the painting supplies and rocks. The plan was to paint some creepy halloween characters. Their favorite was the scary looking pumpkin face.

There are many ways to paint these characters on the rocks. Using circle shapes for the pumpkins and spiders is the easiest way to paint them. My favorite was the spider and so easy to do. The hardest is the pumpkins. I let the kids fill the center of the circle with orange paint and the rest I did. To keep them busy since they are only 3 and 4 years old I let them paint any rock anything they wanted. Theo the oldest is a very good painter and I was impressed with him staying within the lines of the circle.

Supplies Needed:

  • Pencil

2. Draw circle images.

Before you start painting or drawing the circles. Decide whether you want the rocks natural or painted. `We painted most of the rocks white. You can use a pencil or if you are good with painting the circles with a brush that’s fine as well.. The spider for example has two circle shapes one that is round and another that resembles an egg. Everything else for the pumpkins are basic round circles for body of pumpkin and eyes.

3. Finishing touches.

With a few lines you can paint the spiders legs and add some lines to create the pumpkins and a thicker one for the stem.
