CHARMING CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA +Video

BROAD STREET

A few weeks back I headed to Charleston for some alone time and visit a friend. It was also a time to do some videos and what better place than this beautiful historic city. A few months back I started shooting my first video and it was on Habersham, South Carolina. It’s a very cute community in Beaufort.  I enjoyed making the video that I decided to continue filming some of my favorite cities. The only way to learn to make a video is to go out there and film. I have made tons of mistakes but it has been fun learning. The first street on my video is Broad Street. Here is the Church in the video. I had fun filming. I hope you enjoy it.

John Rutledge House Inn is one of my favorite places. I have stayed here with my family. The Inn is historical and pet- friendly. Many of the hotels are not pet-friendly, so this one is perfect if you want to bring your pet. On this trip, I took my dog Luigi with me. The rooms are roomy and decorated very cozy.  I’m in love with the wrought iron elements of this FAMED city. Take a stroll back in TIME! and check out this beautiful old mansion that was converted into this glorious B&B.

The Inn was built by John Rutledge in 1763 as a  wedding gift for his wife Elizabeth Grimke. They lived there with their ten children. The house went through a major restoration in 1853.  Christopher Werner was commissioned to create its infamous piazza, iron gates and banisters.

I love the Steel Blue colors of the Inn’s Wrought Irons!

George Washington ate breakfast here!

After checking in I headed to Rainbow row to video some pretty homes. It was pretty crowded with lots of people so it was hard setting up the tripod. It was a good experience.

House painted the colors of the rainbow!

Water Front Park is a lovely place with several water fountains. My favorite is the pineapple one. It’s a great place to cool down during the hot months.

VIDEO OF CHARMING CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA

Have some time head out to the beaches outside of Charleston South Carolina called the Isle of Palm.

Perfect for a winter getaway. This house I stayed had a beachy glow throughout the living space. Blue denim slipcovers and bright-print pillows were very inviting, there were woven blinds, textured wallpaper,  driftwood, and coral accents add a coastal charm. I love bright colors and this beach home had it all.

Bright color outdoor furniture maintains the cozy feel of this beach house, the generous seating in the deck was great for big parties, perfect for a weekend trip.

Hope you enjoyed this little video of Charleston. This is my favorite city of all the places I have visited. I think it’s because it has it all the charm of an old European city but close to home for me. I am so lucky that I am only 1  1/2 hours away. I hope you get to visit this lovely city! Love to hear if you do.

  1. Hi Maria!
Beautiful place is Charleston! I love the iron work you can see everywhere there. You showed us a taste, yet it makes me want to go there already. Can’t believe that beautiful bedroom is pet-friendly, if I understood that correctly. Great job on your video.

    1. Thanks, its the only place that is nice enough to stay, otherwise the other pet friendly hotels are pretty shabby! This place also only charges a small fee, there is one other hotel on the video that is petfriendly but charges and arm and leg for pet fee.

  4. Good Afternoon Marie, Oh how wonderful. I loved re-visiting Charleston. I live in England and for my mother, Phyllis’ 80th birthday, we flew to Atlanta to spend time with my daughter as my mother had never visited America before. One of the places we visited was Charleston. She and I absolutely adored the place. I love the beautiful buildings they are so stylish.
Thank you for the treat of remembering.
    Best Wishes
    Daphne

    1. Nikki, You have to make Charleston your must stop some day! It can be very pricey the hotels, but if you go around the fall and early part of the year the prices are so much lower.
I also go sunday through thursday and the hotels are half the price. Maria

  11. I enjoyed your video and photos of Charleston, Maria. It’s such a wonderful city. One of the best things about it is that if you’re a frequent visitor, you can always find something to see that’s new to you. Even after living here for over 12 years, I frequently find some out of the way place to explore.

    1. Beverly, Thats great that you are from Charleston, we should get together! I only live a 1 hours 45 minutes in BLuffton, some day we should meet for lunch or tea.
      Maria

  12. I was just thinking about Charleston this morning! A few years ago my husband and I had the privilege of visiting the area not once but twice in one year. In fact, it was right around this time in April that we went the first time.

  13. I haven’t been in a very long time, but Charleston is on my list. I love history and Europe so the combination to me is appealing! Thanks for sharing on SITS Blog Linkup today
