I love taking small weekend trips in the summer and I always include my must have items for a weekend getaway! Whether this is your first hiking trip or you’re a seasoned weekend traveler it’s always helpful to have a rundown of what items you may want to pack.
Step 1: Luggage
Choose your weekend luggage (be colorful and stylish even for an outing). Bring an extra bag to store essentials you will need for activities.
Step 2: Organize Your Stuff
Start organizing your list by jotting everything on a sheet of paper.
- Sunglasses
- Sneakers
- Bathing suit
- Hat
Toiletry Bag
- Deodorant
- Toothpaste
- Sunscreen
When I was shopping for supplies. I needed deodorant and I was so happy to find that Target carried Tom’s of Maine. I grew up using their products. Later in life I moved to a coastal Carolina which did not carry them. Since then the area has grown and Tom’s of Maine products are here and that’s why I switched. I love Tom’s of Maine because all the products are made without artificial colors, fragrances and the most important not tested on animals. I purchased Tom’s of Maine Lasting Deodorant in Wild Lavender and Tom’s of Maine® Long Lasting Deodorant in Natural Powder. Both provide 24 hours protection which is what I am going to need during this hot weekend outing.
Step 3: Food & Drink Essentials
Since the weather is going to be hot. I packed some healthy food and drinks to keep us hydrated. I brought a colorful picnic tarp, set a fun lunch before we head onto the water to paddle board. In my bag I added one of the Tom’s of Maine deodorant in case I fall into the water. Which has happened many times.
Whether you are on a paddle board, at a picnic or fishing. I hope for your next weekend get away these items come in handy and that you consider using Tom’s of Maine products such as the long-lasting lavender deodorant. I am thrilled they are in my life again. Thank you Target for carrying them and opening a store in our neighborhood.
What a fun getaway and great tips for not forgetting anything. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank for being a sweetheart and stopping by to visit this special post! I truly appreciate it.

Okay… so one year, I was on a business trip in the height of the monsoons in AZ. It didn’t occur to me to check in to the hotel before visiting the client, so I left my luggage in the car for the afternoon! I got to the hotel, took a quick shower and went to put on my deodorant and the whole stick and melted!!! (This came to mind when I saw your stick of deodorant on your picnic blanket!) LOL! Sorry… had to share! I need to try this brand… I use another natural deodorant, but I’m always up for trying new products!
Wow thats funny! Tom’s of Maine is pretty natural and I used them when I was in my 20’s and stopped and now I have made the switch back!
Hey Maria,
Loved the post! You are lucky to live in such a lovely place! Love the southern coastal scene, a perfect landscape for a picnic. I love Tom’s brand! I use the deodorant and the toothpaste is great as well!
Thanks for sharing ,

Hi Maria, I haven’t tried Tom’s deodorant but I think I may. I’ve been using Dove since I was a teenager but I do like Tom’s toothpaste! Thanks for the review and happy paddling! You look sooo fit!
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Thanks Barb! I try to stay fit! Thats great to hear that you may dry the deodorant! I am so happy that Target carries it now. Hope your week is a good one.
Love Tom’s Wild Lavender and so glad we can get it here in Canada! Love your little picnic on the dock too. As for the paddle boarding….that would make me sweat for sure! Not sure I could balance enough to stay upright 🙂
It was a little hard at first but I was able not to fall in! Glad to hear that you have Tom’s in Canada.
You look like you are having a great time Maria, and especially now that you have all of your necessities and don’t have to worry.
Thats true! That day I went paddle boarding it was so hot! The deodorant came in handy. Have a great week!
Hi Maria…look at you with your SUP! You never stop! Great list for important travel essentials. As a frequent traveler, I know how important it is to have your ‘go to’ necessities.
Thanks for the tips my friend.
Hugs, Lynn
