GET THE LOOK:White Linen Drapes

I love Simple Because its Easy!

I think for most of us in our day-to-day lives, getting things done quick, and with ease is important. So, why should it be any different when it comes to decorating our homes? This is important to me when I decorate, but I’m also conscious not to compromise style and quality. White linen drapes are an example of a simple way to make a room look beautiful. I’m glad that I love simple, I can always add some color to jazz things up in any given day!

I first posted these linen curtains last year, on how to create puddles. Puddles is extra drapery that is spilled or “puddled” onto the floor. It creates style and elegance to your drapes and the room. I still continue to love this look!

Measuring the drapes was quite easy, The drapes hung with clip rings on the pole.  The installation was quite easy and Pottery Barn has a great how-to video.

One small annoyance about linen fabric is its tendency to wrinkle easy. Ironing takes forever, is difficult on drapes and often doesn’t remove all the wrinkles. So I discovered the Jiffy Hand Steamer, and it worked like a charm! I contacted Jiffy and they sent me a hand steamer in exchange for a post. It’s been so much easier and now my drapes look crisp and wrinkle-free.

Jiffy Steamers come in all different sizes. The one I used for the drapes is called Esteamer.  All you do is fill the unit with water, plug it in and it’s ready to steam. It won’t discolor your fabric like an iron can.  You can even use it on your clothes.

I love to puddle my curtains! I’ll have to check into the steamer, it looks much easier than dragging out my big floor model (and finding the thing first).

Lol, thats true, its not something you use often, but this steamer is really easy! Thanks for stopping by.

Love puddled curtains! Unfortunately, they don’t fit the style of our home now. Did you know they have a historical background? Puddling the fabric was a sign of wealth? Your bedroom is simply beautiful! Love the textured ceiling with your chandelier! Sharing on my H2OBungalow FB page:)

Wendi, Yes I read that! I have always wanted to have them in one room, most of my house has plantation shutters. Thanks for sharing this on your FB, thats was extremely sweet of you. Let me know when you share it, love to include it in my mentions! Warmest Regards, Maria

The curtains are gorgeous and the jiffy steamer will help keep them that way. I also noticed your stunning floors. Is that concrete? That is so beautiful. I have been wanting to do this to my stairwell but have been afraid it will be too heavy. What are your thoughts?

    • Maria Brittis

On the stairs you can do them, but the edges make crack with use. Sometimes beautiful tile on plain white painted stairs is very beautiful especially in Greece, white stairs with baltic blue tiles, Thats what I would do if I lived where you are, I am obses.sed with the white structures and the baltic blue accents. Are you close to that area. Maria

I’m near the Ionian sea it is across from Italy. But yes that is a lovely color. We have very hard water here so dark tiles would show water marks.

        • Maria Brittis

Aactually you don’t put the tile on the steps, you put them on the area between steps, the steps are just wood. Your area sounds beautiful.

Beautiful and so serene. Love the white, clean crisp look. It is very calming. Great little steamer tool. I have the tall roll about one. This one would be more compact. Thank you for your sweet visit this morning.
