After the holidays, I feel most of us get into the organizational mood. Putting the holiday decorations away and getting the home back to feeling normal. What I like to do for the January and February months is create a warm and cozy atmosphere for my family in different spaces around the house. I usually start in my family room area by making sure there is plenty of firewood in the fireplace and adding some warm luxurious throws to cuddle with on the sofa and chairs. My family spends a great deal of time in the family room watching TV and listening to music.

Lots of Hot Tea In Bed!

When the season change, I also get ideas to change things up. The weather has been freezing here for the south. Since my current bed spread is light in my master bedroom, I added a warm and colorful throw which I found on sale. There is nothing like clean, crisp sheets to make the bed even more comfy. When it’s really cold outside, I tend to stay in bed longer, but I’ll run over to the kitchen to make a pot of tea to go back and drink in bed. Ahh!

Here are some of my favorite tips to keep your home warm & cozy for the winter months!

  1. Lots of magazines and books to read displayed on the side table or coffee table.
  2. Extra cozy throws, blankets on chairs and beds.
  3. Textured baskets, rustic decor like wood slices and pine cones.
  4. Warm area rugs in living room spaces.
  5. Candles on mantels, side tables and coffee tables.
  6. Fire wood always in the fireplace.

What your favorite cozy element you like adding in your home?

    1. Thanks Ashley, the throw was a big find for $10.00 Ross. Will head oer to your place.

  6. Maria you had me at wood in the fireplace. This is a winter must. We have a fireplace in Greece and it is non stop burning for four months. We also cook a potato or two while it is lit. And throws are also a must. Your home is warm cozy with just the right amount of color.

    1. So happy you like the bench! I almost did not buy it thinking the color was not going to match anything.

  7. Yes to all of the cozy throws! I have so many around our house, and I am always reaching for them throughout the day and night. Your home looks so calm and bright!

  8. Nice tips for winter decor. Thanks for sharing and it’s beautiful. I found a company online called Furnishr. They furnished my home simple yet stylish. If anyone would be interested, check them out. They have chic designs and high-quality furniture. You probably can get inspired by their designs as well.
