SANTA BARBARA Holiday (Part 1)

Dog Friendly Klimpton Canary Hotel Was The Best!

When I travel I like staying at one place most of the time and using that as the home base. I don’t enjoy staying a few days and off to the next city. So when I researched my trip to Santa Barbara, it was the perfect place to go for vacation because it had everything I love. It has the mountains, the sea and a beautiful city. Both my husband and myself are avid bikers and this Spanish inspired city has bike lanes everywhere. People are super sweet and respectful toward the bikers. It’s so refreshing! We ubered from the airport to our Klimpton Hotel Canary. No need to rent a car. The plan was we were planing on biking and walking everywhere. We had three excursion planed in which they picked us up from our hotel. In my part 1 of Santa Barbara I will show you bit and pieces of the city, the architecture and the landscape.

The hotel has Spanish inspired decor throughout, with lots of colored tile. The city itself has lots of Mexican heritage. Much of the architecture is  Spanish Colonial Revival and Mission Revival style. We walked and biked the city the first few days. Then we treated ourselves to a massage at the Float Spa. It was the perfect way to unwind heading to a busy week of wine tasting and biking.

What do you think of this city? Some people may feel that 10 days is too much in one place. But if you take in  consideration all the sights outside the city such as the wine country, and the mountain landscape there is ton to see. People are super friendly and bikes come first on the road. In part 2 Santa Barbara excursions I will cover the wine country, mountains and sea.

  1. Maria, your trip to Santa Barbara sounds wonderful! And your photos are the best! Looking forward to part 2. Xoxo Sandra

  2. How lovely! I’ve never been but you make me want to visit. Adding a trip to Santa Barbara to my bucket list!

    1. Its a great city, there was quite a few homeless, but I heard that because the weather is great there and lots of parks, its a shame but California Tends to have more than most other cities. They seem happy and don’t bother any one.

  3. Such a pretty place! I never stayed in Santa Barbara although we lived in Southern California for 29 years. A shame, really, but Charles never could get time off when we could afford a nice trip and most of the time it just wasn’t in the budget. Glad you had a lovely time!!! The cycling around the city would have been great!

    Barb 🙂

    1. Wow, its a shame you never visited, its a city that is kind of of low key! so not very touristy. Thanks for stopping by! xox Maria

  4. Beautiful photography Maria! This would be my kind of place to visit. Doesn’t it remind you of the Mediterranean? The greenery, the vinyards and the beautiful village type vibe!

    1. It actually looks like Tuscany in the Country side and it does have that Mediterranean vibe. In Part 2, you will think I am in Tuscany,Italy.
