How To Make a Sunflower Topiary
This past holiday weekend, I was busy entertaining my family, while also planning a menu for our Memorial Day BBQ. I was planning an outdoor party, but with the tropical storm, the party was redirected to the screened-in porch.
I went to the market to pick up some groceries and stopped by the flower shop where I found some pretty pieces to make a Sunflower Topiary. It was an easy 5-step process, where I used 3 different kinds of flowers.
Supplies
- 3 large white hydrangea
- 3 large sunflowers,
- 14 yellow daisies
- 5 inch vase
- 4 long leaf strips
Step #1: Choose 3 types of flowers
ย 3 large orange sunflowers, 14 yellow daisies and 2 white hydrangea.
Step #2: Cut the flowers & prep the vase
The vase is a 5-inch square. I cut all the stems of the large sunflowers so that they were the same height. I then placed a floral foam in the center of the vase.
Step #3: Add Large Flowers
I gathered the three sunflowers and wrapped them with the leaf strips similar to braiding. Once it’s all tied together, I stuck the long stems into the foam and tied a pretty ribbon to secure the flowers.
ย ย Step #4: Start adding remaining flowers
Fill up the floral foam with the two hydrangea.
Step #5: Add the daisies
Finish the arrangement by adding the daisies all around the hydrangeas. You may have to cut some here and there so that they are all the same height.
Party Time!
I was pretty excited to place the topiary on our table, it looked great with the simple white place setting.
I added little candles in the mason jars and mini lights along the center of table.
I love being with family during the holidays! I hope your Memorial Day was great too!
Enjoy! Hope this arrangement comes in handy for you one day. For more flower arrangement check out thisย Spring Tulip Arrangements.
This is such a pretty centerpiece, I just love the flowers on the bottom of the base! I really should try some floral arranging sometime (whenever I have extra time- lol!).
