This time of the year is best described as the “dog days of summer.” The weather does not stop my Luigi who is a pretty active dog. He loves chasing the ball and flying in the air after them. One of my favorite pastime is walking him several times a week through our miles of nature walks. The weather has been pretty hot this August so we have been taking a break and biking instead. So to keep both of us healthy we pack a small cooler filled with water, snacks and his favorite collapsible travel bowl. The bowl can be found at Petco.
After 4 miles of biking we stop! … so many options can’t figured out which way to go! Detroit 875 miles or shall it be Kapaula 4252 miles. Enough said mom.. its drinking time !
Luigi and I love the travel bowl its sturdy and it collapses in our cooler. The bowl holds 6 cups of water sturdy enough for my messy drinker. Here are some more additional tips to keep your pet cool and still enjoy a good walk during a hot day.
- Activities with your pet done during the early morning before it get super hot.
- Pack water, pet bowl and snacks.
- Small towel. (soaking it with cool water, place it on the dogs neck to help keep him cool.)
Heading back home, I find all the shading spots. You don’t have to keep your dog cooped up inside because its hot outside, with some planning and a few items you all can enjoy the dog days of summer.
