Why Window Treatment Ideas Can Add Value To Your Home.

When we purchased our homes the first thing we did was add window treatments. It is a great way to give you a start for decorating and add value to your home.  Window treatments in my book have played a great part in selling my previous homes.

If you are looking for ideas for your window treatment this is a great read.

Below Are The Best Window Treatment Ideas To Add Value To Your Home

Pottery Barn has a great variety of window treatments. I added long flowing drapes to give a elegant and flowing look.

8 Window Treatment Ideas To Add Value To Your Home

1. Drapery Panels

Drapery panels are a great way to a simple and traditional look. To add another dimension to them I love puddling them at the bottom. To calculate how many puddles you will need to measure the window area from ceiling to floor and add 4 to 10 inches more. I purchased my drapes from Pottery Barn. (Classic Belgian Flax Linen Drapes.) I picked the 50 by 108 which gives me 8 inches for the puddle. There are three different lengths to choose from. Check out this video on how to install them.

2. Plantation Shutters (a great alternative to window treatment ideas)

Plantation shutters are my favorite window treatment. Plantation shutters are made of slatted wooden panels that fold over when they open. It allows light to come in when you open the slats. Plantation shutters have a sophisticated coastal look. Amazon has some great vinyl shutters that have great reviews.

Roman blinds create an elegant window treatment  They are panels of fabric that fold when you pull them up.  Most of the time you have to custom order them. I put them in my bedroom and office. It gave the perfect simplicity and elegance I was looking for. Amazon roman blinds were a great buy and easy to install.

I love the look of sheer drapery. It’s definitely an elegant look to any home. It allows natural light into your home and creates a romantic feel. They can be used under drapes but I love them alone

Mini blinds are tough and durable which means that they can last a long time. If you are on a budget and want your windows covered economically than mini blinds are for you.

Valance are fun for your windows, they come in a variety of color, textures, and styles. From swags, swagger, and scallop valances.

  4. The curtains are gorgeous and the jiffy steamer will help keep them that way. I also noticed your stunning floors. Is that concrete? That is so beautiful. I have been wanting to do this to my stairwell but have been afraid it will be too heavy. What are your thoughts?

    1. On the stairs you can do them, but the edges make crack with use. Sometimes beautiful tile on plain white painted stairs is very beautiful especially in Greece, white stairs with baltic blue tiles, Thats what I would do if I lived where you are, I am obses.sed with the white structures and the baltic blue accents. Are you close to that area. Maria

      1. I’m near the Ionian sea it is across from Italy. But yes that is a lovely color. We have very hard water here so dark tiles would show water marks.

        1. Aactually you don’t put the tile on the steps, you put them on the area between steps, the steps are just wood. Your area sounds beautiful.
