Why Window Treatment Ideas Can Add Value To Your Home.

When we purchased our homes the first thing we did was add window treatments. It is a great way to give you a start for decorating and add value to your home.  Window treatments in my book have played a great part in selling my previous homes.

If you are looking for ideas for your window treatment this is a great read.

Below Are The Best Window Treatment Ideas To Add Value To Your Home

Pottery Barn has a great variety of window treatments. I added long flowing drapes to give a elegant and flowing look.

8 Window Treatment Ideas To Add Value To Your Home

1. Drapery Panels

Drapery panels are a great way to a simple and traditional look. To add another dimension to them I love puddling them at the bottom. To calculate how many puddles you will need to measure the window area from ceiling to floor and add 4 to 10 inches more. I purchased my drapes from Pottery Barn. (Classic Belgian Flax Linen Drapes.) I picked the 50 by 108 which gives me 8 inches for the puddle. There are three different lengths to choose from. Check out this video on how to install them.

2. Plantation Shutters (a great alternative to window treatment ideas)

Plantation shutters are my favorite window treatment. Plantation shutters are made of slatted wooden panels that fold over when they open. It allows light to come in when you open the slats. Plantation shutters have a sophisticated coastal look. Amazon has some great vinyl shutters that have great reviews.

  1. I love to puddle my curtains! I’ll have to check into the steamer, it looks much easier than dragging out my big floor model (and finding the thing first).

    1. Lol, thats true, its not something you use often, but this steamer is really easy! Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Love puddled curtains! Unfortunately, they don’t fit the style of our home now. Did you know they have a historical background? Puddling the fabric was a sign of wealth? Your bedroom is simply beautiful! Love the textured ceiling with your chandelier! Sharing on my H2OBungalow FB page:)

    1. On the stairs you can do them, but the edges make crack with use. Sometimes beautiful tile on plain white painted stairs is very beautiful especially in Greece, white stairs with baltic blue tiles, Thats what I would do if I lived where you are, I am obses.sed with the white structures and the baltic blue accents. Are you close to that area. Maria

      1. I’m near the Ionian sea it is across from Italy. But yes that is a lovely color. We have very hard water here so dark tiles would show water marks.

        1. Aactually you don’t put the tile on the steps, you put them on the area between steps, the steps are just wood. Your area sounds beautiful.
