For a warm and rustic look add reclaimed wood ideas that will add charm to your home.
Have you ever been through the interior of a house and it felt like you were in a log cabin? Don’t get me wrong I love log cabins. It’s just sometimes people go overboard and add too much wood on the walls and it just doesn’t feel right. I went through lots of houses and until I found the look I wanted with reclaimed wood. These reclaimed wood ideas, in my opinion, will add charm to the interior of your home.

The Design Plans
After some careful design planning, I added wooden beams in the ceiling in the living room, over my fireplace and kitchen hood. I kept my walls painted white and added some reclaimed barn wood in the ceiling of my bedroom and half of the bath. I did not put any wood on the ceiling in any of the other rooms. I kept it simple and created a warm and natural feel. It wasn’t overdone or suffocating with wood everywhere.
Reclaimed wooden beams are so dramatic when incorporated in your home. The reclaimed beams were from the dismantling of a structure built around the turn of the century in Georgia.
It was so amazing to watch how they install these large and heavy timbers in my home here is a beam that was lifted with a hydraulic lift and positioned with large bolts and screwed into the beam to keep in place. There are going to be 4 large beams in the family room area and 4 small beams in the foyer area ceiling.
Reclaimed Wood on the Fireplace Mantel and Oven Vent.
The oven vent will have smaller beams wrapped around the bottom of the vent and the fireplace will have a mantle made from one of the beams.
Here the carpenters have incorporated it on my ceiling in the master bedroom. The barn-wood ceiling was installed with flat long planks that were painted with a technique called whitewashing. Textured and aged look of the wood is so beautiful and I can’t stop looking at it. The beauty of barn wood is that no two planks are alike
I wanted a rich wood that was not too dark and rough sawn. There is tons of character in the grain. The barn wood came from a barn also located in Georgia.
