I am in love with route 17 heading to Charleston, South Carolina, It’s the 1 hour and 45 minutes ride from my house to Charleston. There are so many historical markers along that road to to this famed city. If you only knew how many times I wanted to stop and explore them, but there was never enough time…….. until I did last Saturday on the way home from Charleston. I was visiting my friend Dalia at the Women’s Family Circle Tennis Tournament. So after I got my fill of tennis all day Friday. It was time for a break. I drove back home and decided to take the plunge and made a right turn to my first historical marker. I drove down this beautiful road for about 3 or 4 miles and came upon the first marker. Very old gates dated back to the 1700, not much written, looks abandon except that at one time it was an old estate . I got so excited I jumped out of the car and took some pictures. Truly was spectacular property.
Hopped back into the car and drove a few more miles, not a soul on the road. Slammed on my breaks and found another amazing set of gates. These looked like someone bought the property and restored it to prestine condition. I snapped away and felt like a spy! So much fun! Don’t worry, I was careful and I don’t talk to strangers. 🙂
This property was huge and it had a lots of live oak and magnolia trees on the property. It also had ton of ! How do I know that? When I was snapping away at the log cabin they started running toward me… I ran back into my car and went home. 🙂
Along with the property looks like this cabin was restored as well.
Amazing oak trees dating back to probably the 1700’s…. It was a fun stop! Nest time I’ll take someone so I can explore some more without being a scary cat.
